Our client schools are looking for Teaching Assistants to work on a flexible supply basis, starting in September.
We work with special educational needs schools who require extra support for the students in the classroom.
The children's needs can vary, from mild to moderate and conditions can vary such as Autism, Aspergers, Downs Syndrome, ADHD, Global Developmental Delay, Cerebal Palsy and more.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work 1:1 with a specific student of with a small group, helping them with their classwork, managing their behaviour and ensuring their safety at all times.
The class work is based on a lot of sensory and kinesthetic activities, with core subject curriculum subtly ingrained into each lesson. This holistic approach to learning helps the students to progress with their sensory and cognitive development, whilst learning social skills necessary to help them to communicate effectively and overall make them more confident and independent.
Ideally, applicants will have some experience supporting children or people with special educational needs however attitude to the role and a caring personality is equally as important.
All applicants are expected to have a child only DBS which is registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one.
