- Teaching Assistant needed in Bury area for SEMH
We work with a school which currently supports up to 112 KS3 pupils across multiple sites in the Bury area, who are looking for a pragmatic person with experience of working with children to take on the role of Teaching Assistant in the new year.
This inclusive school hosts students who are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education and/or have social, emotional and mental health needs. Designed for short term intervention, each site offers a different curriculum based on needs and ability, focusing on core subjects and vocational options through college placements.
In the role of Teaching Assistant, you are responsible for the support and engagement within the classroom of the specific student or class you are assigned to; you must provide attentive educational support across all subjects therefore a practical knowledge or core subjects such as Maths and English is essential, any other subjects is a bonus.
Alongside education, you will be needed to support with emotional well-being and behaviour. Students may be disengaged and disruptive, so someone who is adaptable to quick changing situations, experienced in de-escalation and able to mentor in managing emotions would really excel in this role.
The Head of the school hopes the recruit a Teaching Assistant who is quick to build rapport with the pupils and can make noticeable changes in behaviour and progress; the role is fixed term however if the applicant is successful the role is likely to be made permanent.
It is essential to have a child workforce DBS which is registered to the update service for this role. Driving is preferred but not necessary.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
