Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join one of our client schools in Tameside from January.
This position will be hugely important to the development of the school’s most vulnerable pupils. 20% of this school’s student population requires additional SEN support.
The salary for this position will be between £385 and £450 per week.
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for:
- Working with the pupils on a one-to-one basis or within small groups to best target the learning needs of the most vulnerable pupils.
- You will be working alongside pupils with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning difficulties; therefore, you must be able to build trusting relationships with them to ensure that you are able to support them to the best of your ability.
- Encouraging the pupils to engage in their learning with the intention of improving their academic results.
- Supporting pupils with Educational, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Ensuring that all safeguarding procedures are followed correctly.
28% of the school’s pupils leave year 11 with a grade 5 or higher in both English and Maths. This is far below that of the national average. Therefore, supporting the pupils in their learning development will be crucial. The school is in a disadvantaged area, currently 44% of their pupils are eligible for free school meals, the national average for this is 27%. This school is likely to be a challenging learning environment, however, it is anticipated that this will be highly rewarding.
