SEN Teaching Assistants

 Potential Permanent School Contract

Our Specialist SEN Branch here at Teaching Personnel are currently working in partnership with a number of SEN schools in and around Maidenhead. These specific schools are looking to us to support them with their temporary recruitment process for a number of roles starting either immediately or in the coming weeks for the rest of the academic year. This is an ideal opportunity for anyone who is looking to kick start their career in a Specialist Provision or for future career aspirations.

What will your role be?

The role is to work as a SEN Teaching Assistant within a Special School supporting an adapted curriculum across key stages in a 3-19 provision. Within these classes you will be supporting learning which could also include personal care.

The successful candidate will:

  • Support of students with a range of Special Educational Needs, those with Education Health and Care Plans, and particularly learners with Autistic Spectrum Disorder
  • Promote inclusivity by setting clear learning objectives, enabling full access to the curriculum and any extra-curricular activities
  • Set high expectations for pupil behaviour, learning, motivation and presentation of work, by establishing a purposeful working atmosphere and providing challenging and inspirational learning experiences, in line with specific school policies
  • Provide physical and communicative support to pupils, using appropriate modes of communication, catering to the individual needs of the pupils
  • Have some experience in supporting additional learning needs either in a personal or professional capacity or an interest in supporting additional needs within a specialist provision.
  • Will ideally  be a Sports, Psychology, Music, Drama or SEN student though this is not essential.
  • Will need to be available Monday- Friday 8:30-4pm.

Previous experience in schools is not essential as training will be provided. If you’ve had previous experience in supporting SEN in a professional or personal capacity and have always had an interest in doing so then please still get in touch.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
