Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a special school in Dagenham who are looking to recruit a full time teaching assistant for a small Year 5 class working various SEN needs ; pupils who have social , emotional, mental health difficulties, ADHD and present with challenging behaviours. The ideal teaching assistant will be pro active, flexible and will posses good behaviour management. This role will be working in small class of up to 7 pupils, 1:1 support will be essential for pupils learning as well as group support, integration for group activities the pupils should participate in to improve social skills. You must have previous experience working with challenging pupils, at least 6 months in either a PRU, Behaviour school, sports coaching , youth work or mental health facilities. This post is for an immediate start and will span for a full academic year with the opportunity for a permanent contract and a comprehensive training programme of Safeguarding training , Team Teach training and behaviour management techniques.

Year 5 behaviour teaching assistant specification:

  • Previous experience working with challenging SEN pupils and/ or behavioural difficulties -minimum 6 months experience
  • Able to deliver 1:1 support tailored to pupils behavioural needs
  • Good behaviour management skills will be key
  • Potential to secure permanent contract subject to performance
  • Full time Monday to Friday term time only - 8.30am -4.00pm
  • Immediate start
