Teaching Assistants in Poole

Teaching Personnel are working with a primary school in central Poole that are currently looking for staff to start ASAP. The school cater for pupils aged 5-12 years in Key Stages 1-3. Pupils have a statement of special educational needs for behavioural, emotional and mental health difficulties. In addition, many pupils may also have other needs alongside this. This Academy has highly trained staff with high expectations of all pupils. There is a high staff to pupil ratio with an emphasis on developing emotional well-being and social skills.

The majority of the current vacancies are for Teaching Assistants to start ASAP. The ideal candidate would have previous experience working with similar needs or be passionate about working in this type of school. Candidates that are suited for this type of school tend to have experience in some of the following although these ARE NOT requirements;

  • Criminology
  • Youth/Community work experience
  • SEN experience
  • Residential support/care worker
  • Sports coaching
  • Team Teach
  • Youth Offending Services
  • Challenging behaviour within family
  • Mentoring
  • Teaching/Learning support Assistance
  • Psychology

Pay Rates

  • Full and Part Time hours available
  • £9ph for days - £10ph for nights
  • 1-1 Teaching Assistant

Person Specification

  • Ability to follow a work pattern and attend work punctually and reliably
  • Ability to go wherever the young people do and participate and lead indoor and outdoor activities
  • To be able to communicate clearly and easily with young people and others in a variety of ways
  • Ability to form appropriate, professional relationships with young people and others involved in their care

Experience of working with children or adults with special needs would be beneficial but this IS NOT essential. Full support can be given to those who do not have previous experience.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
