Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel is looking for a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in the EX37 area. This is a full-time role with the potential to transition into a permanent position for the right candidate.

The EX37 postcode area includes Umberleigh, High Bickington, Atherington, and Chittlehampton, so it’s an ideal opportunity for candidates based nearby.

Main Responsibilities:

• Offer personalised support to pupils with SEN, helping them achieve their full potential
• Work alongside the class teacher to maintain an inclusive, supportive classroom environment
• Support the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the SENCO and staff
• Help foster the social and emotional development of pupils through targeted interventions
• Monitor and report on pupil progress to ensure continuous improvement

Candidate Requirements:

• Previous experience as a teaching assistant or in a similar role is advantageous but not essential
• A strong desire to work with children with SEN and help them succeed
• Patience, compassion, and a supportive approach
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• A commitment to promoting the welfare and safeguarding of children
