Job description

We are seeking a teaching assistant to support in an 'outstanding' school in the London Borough of Hackney which offer special education for 4-16 year-old learners with autism and behavioural needs, complex physical needs. The school follow a child-centred curriculum which has been developed to nurture student's communication, learning, and independence. The role will be full time for the rest of the academic year supporting in a secondary KS3 class for mixed special needs group of autism and physical disabilities. We are looking for someone who can provide high levels of interaction for pupils, able to get very hands on and has a good understanding of supporting the education and well being of pupils with special needs. Previous experience with autism and special needs will be essential to secure role and moving and handling training is desired.


  • Competitive daily rate between £65- £80 dependant upon experience - on PAYE , employers National Insurance and employers pension contribution covered by Teaching Personnel

Special needs teaching assistant:

  • Has at least 6 months experience with autism or supporting special needs young people or adults
  • PECS or Makaton training or experience would be an advantage
  • Able to support secondary aged pupils with behavioural needs
  • Able to commit to the rest of academic year
  • Need to be available for an immediate start
  • Hours : Monday to Friday 8.30am to 3.30pm during term time in Hackney
