** Challenging Behaviour - Year 5 **

Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to support a pupil in Year 5 in a primary school in the Gwent area. The successful candidate would have previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant and will have specific experience with challenging behaviour.

The role would be full time until July with the possibility of being extended dependant on the relationship with the pupil and various other aspects.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Arrange and develop 1-1 mentoring programmes to support students in managing their own classroom behaviour and learning.
  • Work with teaching staff in the planning and implementation of individual behaviour support programmes for named children or small groups.
  • Meeting individual children or small groups to support them through withdrawal from classes or through meetings arranged at other times in the school day.
  • Develop and deliver group workshops for students identified with Behavioural, Social and Emotional Difficulties (BSED)
  • Liaise with Alternative Education Providers, parents and teaching staff on student progress.
  • Challenge and motivate students to promote self-esteem.
  • To undertake individual support for students through internal and external exams.

Applicants must:

Have the legal right to work in the UK

  • Hold a Child Workforce Only DBS registered on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one - full assistance provided.
  • Be registered with the Education Workforce Council (compulsory requirement in Wales) -please note that if you are living in England, you can still register with the EWC which will give you the opportunity to work on both sides of the border
  • Provide at least two professional or character references
  • Be available to start on short notice

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
