BEHAVIOURAL TEACHING ASSISTANT -

As a Behaviour Mentor you will be involved in working with 1:1 with a pupil, and will also work in small group settings alongside mainstream classes. Other support staff will be helping to deliver tailored lessons that meet the specific needs of the individual. You will be actively supporting the pupils with their academic development and also support them in developing social and behavioural skills.

The ideal candidate for this role would be a graduate who has a desire to train as a teacher or a psychology graduate who aims to become a clinical / child psychologist in the near future. The right applicant will have a driven approach along with:

  • Experience of working with children that show challenging behaviour
  • Confidence in working with students that have Special Needs
  • A passion for helping students overcome barriers to learning
  • An understanding of how to establish positive working relationships
  • Ability to be a positive role model
  • Available for work immediately

The School and Position

  • Fixed term contract starting ASAP with possibilities of becoming permanent
  • Behavioural teaching assistant for secondary school pupils aged between 11-16
  • Excellent Modern school facilities catering for all academic needs
  • Large school with over 1000 pupils
  • Easy transport links. Close to bus & train routes
  • Educated to Degree level is preferred but not essential
  • Previous experience working within a school is desirable
  • Be confident and have the ability to build report with pupils and act as a mentor and support function
  • Work closely with the SENCO
  • Show a passion for education and the capabilities to work in challenging situations
  • Registered with the Education Workforce Council - Support can be given with this

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
