Job description

A school in the SA18 area are looking for a dedicated and passionate teaching assistant to join their team working on a 1:1 basis with a student who has a hearing impairment. Therefore knowing British Sign Language (BSL) is a must. The school are looking for a Teaching Assistant to ensure that the student can still access the curriculum to the best of their abilities.

We are looking for individuals with the following, to help students who communicate through BSL:

  • You must be qualified in BSL (British Sign Language), Level 1 or higher
  • Full time availability Monday to Friday (0830-1530) is desirable, but part time roles may be available
  • You should be passionate about supporting students with their studies, and be confident to communicate through BSL

The role will be to work 1:1 with the student in all lessons, your role will be to ensure they understand what is expected of them in each lessons, so the ability to build good relationships and communicate effectively is really important.

If you have previous experience in education then this will be advantageous. However if you do not, but would still like to be considered for this role, we can support you with working in a school.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
