Teaching Assistant Belper

We are working on behalf of a 'Good' with 'Outstanding' features SEN school in the Belper area of Derbyshire (DE56).

The school constantly have new referrals of students who need 1:1 support so we are looking for Teaching Assistants who can take on this role.

• Caters for students aged between 5 - 19 years
• Holds Day and 38 - 52 week residential students
• They provide specialist education, therapy and care for children and young people with speech, language and communication needs and/or Asperger's Syndrome and/or Acquired Brain Injury (ABI).
• They pride themselves on being able to offer an individualised Therapy Programme for each individual student, helping pupils to feel confident and have a sense of belonging
• They implement a multi-disciplinary team for every student within the school to provide a holistic approach wherever possible
• Each student has a personalised timetable to match pathways and aspirations for future plans
• Every young person in Key 1 - Key Stage 4 engages in a bespoke Life Skills Curriculum which is planned and delivered by the Multi-disciplinary team

The ideal candidate:

• An up to date working knowledge of the KS1/KS2 curriculum
• Experienced working with children on the Autistic spectrum (this is desirable but NOT essential - most of the children in this class are verbal but have impaired communication)
• Will be able to differentiate towards a mixed ability group of students on the autism spectrum
• Will want to get involved in any extra-curricular activities or enrichment events that take place within the school
• Will be willing and able to liaise effectively with a multi-disciplinary team including Occupational Therapists, Nurses, Psychologist, Speech and Language Therapists
• Will be committed and dedicated to the role in order to provide continuity and predictability for the students
