Job description

Teacher of Psychology required for an immediate start in a Bolton based Secondary School to cover maternity leave.

  • Full time Teacher of Psychology - May 2018 start
  • NQT/QTS status with experience delivering GCSE Psychology.
  • Leading mainly KS4 Psychology, KS3 R.E is also desirable but not essential.
  • Good behaviour management skills, ability to plan and deliver innovative Psychology lessons.
  • Support from senior leadership in a significantly improving school.
  • Pay in line with MPS/UPS dependant on experience (£22,917 - £38,633).

With to a member of staff due to go on maternity leave within the next couple of weeks, a rare opportunity has emerged for a Teacher of Psychology to join this well managed secondary school from May. The post is for a Teacher of Psychology specialising in delivering the OCR syllabus to KS4 students. This Psychology teacher position will be on a temporary supply basis due to the nature of the absence and applicants will

Applicant requirements;

  • Must hold UK QTS and a degree specialising in Psychology
  • Must be willing to take on full teaching responsibilities including planning and marking
  • Hold excellent behaviour management skills and a track record of achieving excellent results
  • Be willing to cover lower school RE lessons due to the current post holder having a mixed timetable

This school is located in the heart of Bolton and has roughly 900 pupils on roll. The school is easily accessible, with excellent public transport links and Bolton train station within a few miles. Also, the M60 or M61 make the surrounding areas; Bury, Chorley, Wigan and Salford commutable.

The school serves a good catchment area and pupils respect their teachers and peers. The school ethos is based on providing academic excellence with the main objective being pupil progress. Under the management of a new Headteacher who was appointed this academic year, the school has consistently made improvements this academic year and he provides a shared vision for all staff. The Psychology department is made up of 2 other members of staff and subject specific support assistants are also attached to the department for additional support.
