My client school seek an outstanding teacher to join their successful and supportive Maths Department.

This is a fixed-term (maternity), part-time MPS post starting 08/01/2018.

We are looking for:

The Maths Department

The Mathematics Department consists, at present, of four members of staff (all teach exclusively within Mathematics) teaching across the 11-18 age and ability range.

Students in Key Stage 3 receive six and a quarter hours of Mathematics per fortnight and are taught within four or five groups, set according to ability within the school's banding structure.

In Key Stage 4 students receive seven and a half hours of Mathematics per fortnight. All Key Stage 4 groups are in sets according to ability. Students in Key Stage 4 study GCSE Mathematics (AQA) with a pass rate of nearly 100% in recent years. Last year, 74% of students obtained grades A*-C in Mathematics.

Currently there are 16 students in Year 12 studying AS level Mathematics (OCR); 4 are also studying Further Maths. There are 18 A-level students in Year 13. Time allocations for A-level are currently eight and three-quarter hours in Year 12 and Year 13, per fortnight.

The Mathematics Department is based in four rooms, all of which have interactive whiteboards; additional rooms in the same Wing are used as necessary. The successful applicant would benefit from having a consistent teaching room.

The School Curriculum

The school operates a four-period day within a ten-day cycle. Each lesson is 75 minutes long. Students have 26 hours curriculum time each week.

Key Stage 3

Students are placed in mixed-ability form groups. In Years 8 and 9 setting is for Science, Maths and the group of subjects English, Geography, History, Modern Languages and Religious Education.

Key Stage 4

English (including Literature) Maths, Double Science, Religious Studies, Citizenship, and Physical Education are compulsory. Students then choose four further options subjects (10% of curriculum time each). GCSE General Studies is available as an additional entry in Y11.

Key Stage 5

Advanced Level courses are currently taught in Art, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Computing, Design Technology, English Literature, French, General Studies, Geography, Food, Nutrition & Health, History, Maths, Maths (Further), Music, Philosophy and Belief, Physics, Physical Education, Psychology and Sociology.

Re-sit GCSE courses are also offered in English and Maths, together with an open access provision for IT skills acquisition.

The School Site

The school is fortunate to enjoy a large site, with views of both the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Wolds.
