The governors at an Outstanding Roman Catholic Secondary school based in the heart of Bury are seeking to appoint an expert Teacher of Maths to join their highly successful team from September 2019 or earlier.

As a renowned Secondary school it has been a successful component within the community and as the incoming Teacher of Maths you will join a welcoming, friendly and supportive staff team.

  • Full time Teacher of Maths required from September 2019.

  • Must hold QTS alongside relevant degree level qualification within Science.

This well respected Secondary school has an emphasis on the core subjects at school; maths being one of the highest achieving subject areas. The department consists of three Senior Subject Lead Teachers, working under the dedicated guidance of the Director of Maths. As the incoming Teacher of Maths, you can expect to join a supportive staff team where pupils are encouraged to use interactive methods, in order to be challenged to and develop their understanding.

The responsibilities for the successful Maths teacher will include;

  • To ensure all individual lessons are planned and prepared adequately including the appropriate use of relevant resources.
  • Adopt a forward thinking approach and plan lessons in line with schemes of work well in advance, in accordance with the national curriculum and departmental/school policies
  • Regularly set and mark appropriate work for pupils in order to assess their progression and understanding.

"Students' progress is measured rigorously, evidence of underachievement is identified quickly and effective support is provided. Teachers and support workers are appointed with great care; they are considered to be the most important resource the school has and are very well supported. Despite the considerable building work that has taken place in the last year, there are no signs that this has had a detrimental impact on students' experiences. There are high expectations of staff and students. As a result, much of what is seen as the norm in this school is outstanding."

The school has just over 790 pupils on roll aged 11-16. There are easy access options via the M60/M66 as well as the surrounding areas; Bolton, Rochdale, and Preston. There also various public transport options available with links throughout Greater Manchester.
