Teacher of Geography needed in Blackburn! Starting Sep 2018

Job description

Are you a Geography Teacher looking for work in the Blackburn area?

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a school in Blackburn to recruit a Geography Teacher. The school requires a Teacher Full time to deliver Geography up to GCSE level. The position has become available due to the resignation, of one of the schools Geography Teachers. The position starts from September 2018 and candidates will be expected to complete an initial probationary period. Upon the completion of the probationary period the school will be looking to offer a permanent position to the successful candidate.

The Blackburn based school is a smaller than average school with approximately 650 pupils on roll. Having recently joined a highly successful Academy trust the school has an 18 month improvement plan in place to go from "Requires Improvement" to "Good". The school has been commended on their vision for improvement and the staff are highly enthusiastic about improving the provision which is in place for their pupils. The school has a highly inclusive attitude towards new staff at the school and they have a thorough induction in place for all new staff. NQT's considering this role would receive full support from both the school and the Academy with world leading CPD opportunities.

For a suitable candidate there would be the opportunity to deliver A-Level Geography in one of the partnered school which has a successful 6th Form provision. Suitable CPD is available for candidates interested in this opportunity but with no previous experience delivering to KS5. The school is looking for a candidate with a good knowledge of the KS3 and KS4 Geography curriculum who would be confident planning and teaching lessons to a variety of pupil abilities and backgrounds. The school is currently delivering Geography on the AQA syllabus and so experience with this exam board would be preferable, however not essential.

A successful candidate will benefit from the following:

- Negotiable pay rates depending on experience (£100-140 per day)

- Potential for a permanent position for a suitable candidate

- Excellent school location with good transport links
