Job description

A diverse Bolton based Secondary school is seeking a full time Teacher of Geography to join their welcoming staff team from October 2019 or earlier due to a restructure within the Humanities department.

This large Secondary school has seen a complete restructure amongst their Senior Leadership Team, including the appointment of a new Headship. The newly appointed senior leaders have continued to strengthen the schools capacity to continue raising standards of achievements for all their pupils.

  • Teacher of Geography required from October 2019 or earlier.
  • Must hold QTS/Equivalent alongside a degree level qualification within Geography,
  • Applications are urged from both experienced and newly qualified Teachers of Geography as relevant support will be provided for the successful post-holder.
  • Excellent location easily accessible via the M60 motorway.
  • Pay in line with MPS/UPS £23, 720 - £39, 406.

This oversubscribed Secondary school has a multitude of languages spoken by pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4 and accommodates for the local catchment areas, mainly Farnworth and Worsley. The Humanities department boasts access to state of the art resources within modern facilities, and is a popular subject choice for many pupils within school. As the successful Teacher of Geography your responsibilities will include but may not be limited to;

  • Full planning, preparing and marking responsibilities must be held under discretion of Senior Leadership.
  • Deliver outstanding Geography lessons in line with the national curriculum at Key Stage 3/4 and GCSE, through differentiated teaching and learning.
  • Evaluate and asses classwork taking appropriate action to provide additional support
  • Promote an inclusive pedagogy best suited to each individual learner.
  • Take on extra curricular responsibilities which include attending regular staff meetings, parent's evenings and staff training; where applicable.

Located just outside the Farnworth region of Bolton, the school has just over 1300 pupil on roll, aged 11-16. Bolton is easily accessed via the M61 and the surrounding areas; Bury, Salford and Wigan. The school can also be accessed through various public transport options with links across Greater Manchester.
