My client school in the HX2 area of Halifax are looking for a fixed term English Teacher starting from September. The timetable consists of 17 hours which will be a mixture of English lessons across KS3 and KS4, Library lessons, RWC lessons and Oracy lessons. Classes will be a mixture of abilities although the timetable can be built around the suitable Teacher's needs and strengths. You will be expected to mark, but this Secondary School place an emphasis on reflection and feedback which aids pupil progress.
To be considered for this role you must have the follow:
- Relevant and recent English GCSE 9 - 1 experience
- Open and forward thinking approach
- Happy to plan and mark work on a long-term basis with the department
- Fully enhanced DBS certificate (on the update service)
As this school serves the local community, over 90% of pupils at this Secondary School are from a multicultural background with most pupils deriving from a Pakistani background. Teachers need to be eloquent and confidently teach language explicitly, modelling fluency in all conversations with pupils.
This school is a very forward thinking school, embedding coaching time into staff timetables and ensuring all teaching and learning is research led. As the Communications faculty we are a team of 15 teachers encompassing MFL, Drama and KS3 Oracy alongside English. This school has stable staff but curriculum hours continue to grow every year. Year groups have 5 hrs of English a week with Oracy as additional lessons on a rotation through out the year.
Finally, a very attractive feature of the school is an early finish of 1pm on a Friday.
