Teacher for a Special Needs Nursery Class: Newbury

Job description

A large primary SEN school in Newbury are looking for a dynamic teacher to join their staff team after the February half term.

This position will last up until Summer 2019 in the first instance, although this may be extended into the next academic year dependent on your performance.

The salary available is £120-£160 per day, dependent on experience.

  • The class you will be teaching is nursery level and is made up of 6 students, with mixed autism needs
  • Most students are non-verbal so it would be beneficial if you can already use PECs and Makaton
  • The class are following the EYFS, however this needs to be adapted as necessary for each child, with a large focus on learning through play and sensory development
  • You would be required to teach communication sessions, physical education sessions, sensory development sessions and a variety of other lessons that are accessible by the students
  • You would be supported by a HLTA and three teaching assistants who know the students well and will help you get up to speed with them quickly

Teaching Personnel can offer a range of training courses once you are registered with us, which are either free or at a reduced cost. You will also have a dedicated SEN consultant working with you, ensuring that you are happy in your new position. The school can also offer regular INSET training days and plenty of preparation and planning time as the students don't arrive until 09:15am and leave in the afternoon at 15:15pm.
