Previously we have found those that have been successful as Cover Supervisors have come from professions such as:

Ex- Teachers, Teaching Assistants, Ex- Forces, Sports Coaches, Youth Workers and Prison Officers.

A Secondary School within the Barry area have expressed their needs for Cover Supervisors to support with the Teaching Staff on a regular basis. The school have had great success from the use of Cover Supervisors in the past and would like to give the successful candidate a positive introduction into Teaching. The school understand the role of a Cover Supervisor can be perfect for those wanting to become future Teachers and are willing to offer support and guidance within the role.

The role of a cover supervisor includes:

  • Delivering Pre-Set work to a class of 11-17 year old pupils
  • Maintaining classroom behaviour
  • No planning or Preparation required

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience of managing behaviour from previous roles
  • Be happy to cover all subject areas
  • Be proactive and be able to work under own initiative
  • Have a desire to work in education

Requirements for the role:

  • Ideally be educated Degree Level or equivalent in any subject
  • GSCE (c) in Maths and English
  • Strong behaviour management and interpersonal skills

For this role it is essential that full transparency around your availability is given. A level of flexibility is required as these roles often available on an ad-hoc basis.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
