A Southampton based education care provider are seeking individuals who are experienced in providing support for pupils with Autism, PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties), SEMH (Behavioural Needs) and pupils which require personal care support.
The role will be based around supporting students who are enrolled onto a specialised curriculum which involves working with the pupil over a three week period. The role will involve supporting the student over a two week residential and one week volunteering helping the local community.
The educational site caters for pupils from 12 -16 years as well as residential care. Pupils have tailored educational programmes to suit their learning styles and meet their areas for development such as Reading, Writing and Life Skills. The role of SEN Support Assistant involves the following:
- Personal Care
- Supporting and encouraging individuals to develop their fine, motor and life skills.
- Using wheelchairs and walking aids
- Communicating effectively by using British Sign Language, Makaton and PECs (Picture Exchange Communication System) and a variety of electronic communication aids.
In partnership with the specialist provision, we are looking for individuals with:
- Previous personal care or SEN experience (personal or professional)
- GCSE’s in Maths and English (Grade A-C) or equivalent
- Drive and passion to work with and support individuals with complex needs
- Own transport or a reliable lift to work

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
