Job description

Teaching Personnel are working with a specialist SEND school in Thirsk (YO7) to recruit a full time support assistant for students with SEND, including PMLD, SLD and SEMH on a temporary basis, with a strong potential for a permanent contract for the right candidate. The role will commence ASAP and will involve working with a small class of students across Key Stages with profound learning difficulties of varying natures. In this role, you will be working alongside a team of experienced SEND Teachers and Teaching Assistants in an SEND School with a lovely community feel. A Moving and Handling qualification is beneficial but not mandatory, care work and other relevant experience is also considered. The ideal candidate will have:

-At least six months experience in an SEND environment

-5 GCSE's A*-C grade, including Maths, English and Science

- Excellent behaviour management skills

- A patient, nurturing and caring attitude

-Have an understanding of the role of the Teaching Assistant and other professionals working in the classroom
