Are you the kind of teacher who can make a difference to primary aged students who have disengaged from mainstream education?

Are you able to motivate students to succeed, despite the many obstacles and barriers that they may face inside and outside of school?

A primary school in the Kidbrooke area of South East London has regular day to day requirements for supply teachers to provide cover for absent colleagues. If you are looking for supply work in a variety of different primary schools, and would relish the challenge of working in this bespoke unit on an ad hoc basis, I would like to hear from you!

The children are all capable of working at expected National Curriculum levels, although their lack of focus and increase in challenging behaviour has become a significant enough barrier that they have been transferred to this alternative provision. You will need a sense of humour, and the ability to communicate with these children in a clear, firm yet flexible way.

The role:

• You must have QTS and be able to teach the Primary National Curriculum up to key stage 2
• There is potential to cover key stage 1 as well as key stage 2 classes
• There will be up to 2 teaching assistants available to support you in class - class sizes are up to 8 maximum
• You must promote positive behaviour and be confident in your own ability to use behaviour management strategies successfully
• You must be proactive and able to work collaboratively with the teaching assistants, to bring out the best in the students
• You must be able to deliver set work, and mark/assess accordingly
• £100 - £150 per day, dependent on experience
