Study room supervisor

Job description

Teaching Personnel are working closely with secondary schools in central Portsmouth to appoint study room supervisors to join them from September 2019 or sooner. We are looking for motivated, driven and inspiring individuals to work across the area on a part time or full time basis.

The role of a study room supervisor is a challenging yet rewarding one. Your role would involve taking lead of class in the absence of their usual teacher. To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate effective behaviour management skills, form positive working relationships with pupils and staff and be resilient in your approach to day to day supervision. This role will allow you to support achievement and inspire a future generation for a love or learning beyond the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The distribution of work to pupils and supervision of them completing the set tasks
  • Report back to the teacher as appropriate using the schools agreed referral procedures on the behaviour of pupils during the class, and any issues arising
  • Promote the inclusion of all pupils within the classroom, being aware of and supporting difference, to ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
  • Set high expectations so that all students are inspired, motivated and challenged to reach their full potential. Manage behaviour effectively to create a safe, respectful and nurturing environment so that students can focus on learning.

By joining the school, you will work alongside the schools team of teachers and senior leaders raising expectations, aspirations and attainment of the whole school and act as a role model for their young people, preparing them for life beyond the school gate.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
