Job description

Teaching Personnel are working with a Special School in Bradford who are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant - on a full time basis to start ASAP. This is a permanent position (following a successful probationary period).

Our client is an all age Special School (3-19) located in BD9, and is easily accessible by both car and public transport from the surrounding areas. All pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan and 90% of pupils have Speech, Language and Communication Needs.

The school are ideally seeking an individual with a background in Physical Education/Sports or Occupational Therapy - to support pupils with sensory activities and play based learning. As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will provide support for pupils with additional needs to access an alternative curriculum. You will have previous experience of working with young people with Special Educational Needs - and a sound understanding of meeting the needs of learners with Autism, Moderate Learning Disabilities and Speech, Language and Communication Needs. Additional experience or training in Intensive Interaction, Makaton and/or Team Teach is also desirable. Due to the complexity of pupil needs, you must also be comfortable supporting pupils with personal care.
