SPORTS GRADUATE TEACHING ASSISTANT – BARGOED/CAERPHILLY

If so, I am currently looking for a Sporty individuals to work on a one-to-one basis in a Secondary school in Bargoed.
The school have specified the need for a Teaching Assistant that has a background in Sport as you will mainly be working with a young person that has a passion for sports and this can be used to deescalate challenging situations and keep them engaged.
It is also an advantage that the successful individuals can also support with extracurricular sporting activities when they resume in the new year. The successful Teaching Assistant will be supporting on a 1:1 and small group basis with young people with behavioural difficulties. The varying needs of the pupils include ADHD and Social & Emotional Mental Health. The challenges with education and other pupils in social situations mean you will act as a support function and role model to these young pupils.
The school have expressed that these roles in the past have had success with sports graduates due to the nature of the transferable skills. As a Sports Coach you will need to be able to think on your feet and deal with multiple situations as they may arise & the same thing applies in a classroom environment. The ability to be able to spread your attention to the class whilst also focusing on your own 1:1 pupil is a skills that is transferable from a Coaching setting and work particularly well within the schools behaviour base.
