The Role

Teaching Personnel are working on behalf of an OFSTED graded 'Good' alternative provision in Fulford, York, to appoint a Sports Graduate to work as a Teaching Assistant within their Secondary Classes. The School provides education to students excluded from mainstream Schools. Class sizes are no more than 8, with most completing vocational courses including BTEC PE at Year 10 and Year 11. Your role will be to work with students within both practical and academic lessons, building rapport with students and learning their triggers. Students can become irate and frustrated and knowing their triggers will help to diffuse the situation. The School look to appoint recent Sports Graduates and Sports Coaches to help lead PE classes and take students out of lessons on a 1:1 basis to coach.

The Ideal Candidate

As the ideal person for this job, you should hold a Sports Science or Sports, Coaching and Development Degree at 2:1 or higher. If not, you should have relevant experience within a similar role for at least 12 months. The School are willing to offer additional training in-house, such as behaviour management and autism awareness.
You need to be available full time Monday to Friday. This position is start as soon as possible and is to continue through to the end of June, at least.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
