Job description

Teaching Personnel are looking for Sports Coaches to work across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire SEN provisions. The role would involve working as a Behaviour Mentor with pupils in SEN provisions who are disengaged from education and need engaging and creative ways to positively co-operate within the classroom.

Therefore, we are looking for individuals with experience in a school environment or someone who is hoping to gain experience in this area. Predominantly the role will be to work as a a Behaviour Mentor but also implementing Sports skills as a way to engage and support young people in the region who are disaffected due to childhood trauma, bullying, drug misuse etc.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Someone who holds specialist sports coaching qualifications and have a minimum of 1 years experience
  • Experience working with hard to reach young people across a variety of settings, managing challenging behaviour confidently and calmly
  • Confident to work with a variety of needs and abilities, including those who may present with physical disabilities and mental health difficulties
  • Some experience working within educational provisions although this is NOT essential
  • Willing to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Willing to undertake any additional CPD if necessary
  • Able to lone work and also work within the classroom environment
