Job description

An alternative provider of education are recruiting for a sports coach to undertake a TA role until the end of June to work onsite at a location in DE7.

The provision caters for students with significant Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties who do not cope well with academic, mainstream education. The provision implements a variety of creative, vocational subjects including Health and Beauty, Mechanics, Outdoor Pursuits and many more. Students are tutored both in the provisions independent school but also in the community e.g. foster homes, libraries etc.

The responsibilities of the role are:

  • To advocate on behalf of the young people and the families in their care.
  • Assist with the preparation, assessment, delivery and review of each learner's curriculum, including contributing to lesson plans.
  • Be responsible for all aspects of learner's health and safety and will need to adhere to appropriate risk assessments at all times.
  • Support the learning manager with collection of pupil information including pen pictures, learner profiles, risk management procedures and SEN.
  • Assist the learning manager with assessments, tracking documents, progress reports and feedback reports e.g. EHCP's, KS3 and KS4 transition planning.

The ideal candidates for this post will be:

  • Experienced with working with children and young people, or vulnerable adults
  • Qualified with a minimum Level 3 qualification in an education, health or social care setting
  • Able to demonstrate ability to develop effective resources
  • Able to demonstrate effective record keeping and skills in working with young people.
  • Able to produce evidence of previous CPD
  • Committed to providing holistic family interventions for young people.
  • A sports background, such as coaching or a key interest in sports

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
