Speech and Language Support 

  • Primary School in Burnley (BB12)
  • Support within Key Stage 2 (Year 3 & 4)
  • Full-time (8.45am - 3.15pm)
  • General Teaching Assistant duties as well as Speech and Language Support 
  • Competitive rate - GBP10.20-GBP11.50 p/h
  • To start as soon as possible
  • Role until the end of the academic year (July 2021)

Teaching Personnel are looking for an individual with experience working with pupils with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) to start as soon as possible for additional support until the end of the academic year. The primary school is larger than average and located in the BB1 area of Blackburn. The successful applicant will work with three pupils specifically identified in Year 3 and 4, you would be supporting these children on a 1:1, 1:2 and 1:3 basis. The identified pupils will have varying levels of ability when it comes to the speech and languages so the selected support assistant will take them for intervention sessions in the afternoons to help improve their communication skills. A candidate who has phonics experience would be beneficial as the majority of the support will take place in with pupils working below age related expectations. In the morning sessions, you would be working within the classroom as a general teaching assistant, providing additional support for groups of children.

The ideal candidate will be expected to contribute to a positive learning environment for the pupils and will be expected to deliver pre-planned work to the children but have the ability to adapt the curriculum to make it accessible for the children in line with their educational healthcare plans. The Head Teacher is looking for a dedicated Speech, Language and Communication Support Assistant who will bring a positive attitude and new ideas to this lovely school.
