Special Needs Welfare Assistant

Teaching Personnel are looking for Welfare Assistants to join provisions for children with Special Educational Needs in the Barnsley area. As a Welfare Assistant you will be responsible for ensuring that your students are comfortable around school. The students you support will have a range of needs e.g. physical disabilities, severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties.

About the role:

  • You will be supporting children in different classrooms assisting with personal care and toileting
  • You will be employed by Teaching Personnel, visiting the local schools we work with
  • You will be required to use hoists and mechanically aided equipment to enable student participation and comfort
  • You will support students moving in and around school
  • You will adopt a risk management approach
  • Weekly pay with rates of between £50-£60 a day

About the candidate:

  • Training, such as Moving and Handling, is preferred which teaches safe methods of moving others (this can be gained through Teaching Personnel)
  • Experience supporting others- SEN students, those in care homes, private clients
  • No qualifications needed, just relevant experience
  • Drivers license preferred as you may be required to travel between roles

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
