SLCN Teaching Assistant Required in Blackburn

  • This role will be working with both verbal and non verbal pupils on a rotation basis
  • Working across the school with children with identified gaps in their learning
  • You will work closely with the schools SENCO and work on individuals IEHP

Our school in Blackburn requires a Speech and Language Therapist or experienced graduate in this field to work with pupils with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).

You will work close with SEN students identified with SLCN on both a 1:1 basis and with small groups and will contribute towards a purposeful learning environment by supporting classroom teachers in teaching and learning.

The ideal candidate will have relevant experience of working with SEN SLCN and will have outstanding inter-personal skills. You will need to be patient and sensitive with the ability to encourage and motivate children as well as being able to work effectively in a team. Experience of EBD and phonic schemes will be advantageous.

You may also be required to adapt the National Curriculum to meet the needs of pupils who have ASC and are non attenders of mainstream education and devising Individual Education Plans to reflect their development needs.
