Sensory specialist teaching assistant role - Waltham Forest

We are currently seeking an experienced teaching assistant who specialises working with students with visual impairments.

You will be working in a purpose built SEN school in Waltham forest, catering to students with visual impairments across KS1 to KS2.

For this role it is important to have an understanding of PECS and Makaton techniques as there are students with communication difficulties.

All students attending the school have a statement of special educational needs but mainly support students with visual impairments.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • PECS and Makaton training
  • Experience working in an SEN setting
  • Providing 1:1 support for students with visual impairments
  • A passion for working with students with special educational needs

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
