SEND Teaching Assistant

Job description

A Special Educational Needs Academy in Leeds is currently seeking a Teaching Assistant to work on a full time basis within the school. The Academy provides education for pupils aged from 2 to 16 years with a range of Special Needs including Autism, Asperger's Syndrome and specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia; motor co-ordination difficulties and general learning difficulties.

The ideal candidate must be a Teaching Assistant who can help engage students to develop academically, socially, emotionally and physically. Teaching Personnel are looking for a Teaching Assistant to confidently foster great relationships with students and support them with emotional and anxiety-related difficulties.

The academy has been rated "Good" by OFSTED and is spread across four sites and the successful applicant will be required to work across them all to meet the needs of the school. All of the sites are located in North Leeds and each one is dedicated to delivering a bespoke curriculum to promote the pupil's full potential.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Experience supporting Special Needs
  • Previous experience of working in an SEN school or care setting
  • Personal Care experience

The following would be advantageous but not essential:

  • Moving & Handling Training
  • Team Teach training

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
