SEN Teaching Assistants Southampton

Job description

Teaching Assistants are required in a school in Southampton that caters for secondary aged pupils in a Special Educational Needs School. The pupils range from 11-16 and have a vareity of needs including:

- Moderate learning difficulties

- Severe learning difficulties

- Autism

- Challenging behaviour

- Physical needs

The school manage the needs of the pupils by having small class sizes, normally 5-6 pupils in a class with a teacher and couple of Teaching Assistants. They have 2 full time permanent positions as well as some part time and temporary roles available.

The ideal candidate will have experience with SEN, this could be with adults or with children. If you do not have SEN experience but have a passion to work with these types of pupils please still apply. If you have training in Manual Handling, Team Teach and Makaton this would be preferable but not essential.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
