An exciting opportunity has arisen for an SEN Teaching Assistant to work on a part time basis, through Teaching Personnel, in York. This is a great opportunity for those looking to begin their career in Special Educational Needs, or a highly experienced SEN Teaching Assistant after a change of pace. As the ideal candidate, you should hold the following skills and/or qualifications:
- Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or experience
- Prior experience supporting SEN children or adults
- Knowledge of PECs or Makaton
- Moving and Handling training, or be willing to undergo the training through Teaching Personnel
- Be energetic and charismatic
- Strive to achieve the best from the pupil's you will be supporting
- Hold a Child Only DBS that is registered to the update service, or be willing to apply for one through Teaching Personnel
Your job role will be to support small groups, or on a 1:1 basis, of Primary aged pupils with a range of SEN diagnosis'. This will include Autism, verbal and non-verbal, physical disabilities, profound and multiple learning difficulties, speech language and communication needs and ADHD.
