SEN Teaching Assistant - Rochdale - Immediate Start

  • SEN Teaching Assistant Required to Offer 1:1 Support to Year 3 child
  • Experience Supporting Children With Special Educational Needs is Essential

A client school in Rochdale (OL12) are looking for a supportive Teaching Assistant to join their Year 3 class supporting a child with a learning disability on a 1:1 basis. This 'larger than average' school prides itself on having a 'culture of excellence' and has established a safe and supportive environment. Children are very well behaved and are very welcoming to visitors.

The successful individual is required to:

  • Establish a supportive relationship
  • Clarify and explain instructions
  • Motivate and encouraging the child as required by providing levels of individual attention, reassurance and help with learning tasks as appropriate to their needs
  • Assisting in weaker areas, e.g. speech and language, reading, spelling, numeracy, handwriting/presentation etc
  • Using praise, commentary and assistance to encourage them to concentrate and stay on task

About the role:

  • ASAP start date
  • Working 1:1 with a KS1 pupil with a learning disability
  • Based in a Year 3 class
  • Full time and on a long term basis
  • Possibility to become permanent if agreed by Head teacher
  • Giving accurate handovers to the Teacher and/or carers of the child at the end of your day

  • Experience working with SEN pupils
  • Enthusiasm and passion for education
  • Proven confident and engaging interaction with children
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good level of Literacy and Numeracy skills
  • The ability to work well as part of a team

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
