SEN Teaching Assistant position in South East London

Are you available immediately for full time work?

Can you commit to travelling to Peckham for work each day?

I am working with a secondary school for children with severe learning difficulties, who have an opportunity for a Teaching Assistant looking for full time work to join their team. The class is key stage 4 and has 10 students, a teacher and 3 other Teaching Assistants.

I am looking for a Teaching Assistant who:

  • Is able to support children with autism, including some with challenging behaviour
  • Can provide personal care where necessary including assisting with toileting and changing
  • Has experience of supporting children with SEN either in primary or secondary
  • Is willing to assist pupils in the hydrotherapy swimming pool
  • Can provide excellent references from previous employment
  • Has a DBS on the update service, or is willing to complete a new application asap
  • Is able to travel to this school in Peckham, for a 9am start and 4pm finish each day
  • Holds a relevant qualification related to working with children (degree or level 3 is desirable)
  • Has completed any relevant training sessions (Autism Awareness, Moving and Handling, PECS, Makaton, BSL are all desirable)

The school can also offer CPD training courses during their INSET days on safeguarding, moving and handling, working with autism, child protection and Team Teach.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
