Job description

Teaching Personnel are recruiting an SEN Teaching Assistant to work within an SEN school in Plymouth. The role is to start after May half term and will be long term until the end of the academic year with the potential of being extended from September 2018. It is to work 1:1 with a child with SEN and in particular, social, emotional and mental health difficulties.

Our school caters for secondary aged pupils with social and emotional difficulties and who are not in mainstream education.

The ideal candidate:

  • Experience of working with pupils with SEBD, PMLD, ASC or other SEND experience.
  • Have a full driving licence with access to a car.
  • Has supported or written IEPs, Education and Health Care Plans or other support plans.
  • Will be able to communicate effectively with parents, carers and other multi-agency partners.
  • Will have experience working with pupils in KS3 or KS4.

In order to work for Teaching Personnel and clear our vetting process, you must have a Child Workforce DBS subscribed to the Update Service. Full assistance will be provided should you need to apply for a new check, at a standard cost of £44, plus an annual subscription fee of £13 for the Update Service.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
