This vacancy has now expired.

Job description

Are you looking for long term work from EASTER 2018?

Do you have a passion to work with children in an education setting and enjoy seeing children progress in the classroom?

Have you had experience working alongside children with Special Educational Needs and Language/Communication Needs in a mainstream or SEN setting?

A fantastic and rewarding opportunity has arisen at a well known Primary school in the heart of Darwen. Teaching Personnel are working closely with the Head Teacher in this school to get a clear understanding of the needs and requirements to ensure they get a suitable new member of staff to join their welcoming and successful team from Easter 2018. It is imperative that the applying candidates have a Level 2 or above and with this they can present a portfolio of experience working on a 1:1 basis with children.

The Head Teacher has stressed she is looking for a qualified SEN Teaching Assistant with fantastic understanding of supporting children with Speech and Language difficulties and communication needs. It is also crucial the candidate has strong behaviour management and can handle possible challenging behaviour. You must be driven, confident and be able to form good relationships with all staff and pupils.

Secure yourself a long term position, with the potential for the role to become permanent. The position is starting after the February half term working 1:1 with a young child with Speech and Language needs and is currently working below age expectations.

The school is located just outside Darwen Town Centre and it's pupils are predominantly from white British backgrounds. This one form entry school has recently rapidly improved from 'Special Measures' to 'Good' due to a change in Headship. The Head Teacher is keen to recruit dedicated members of staff who have a 'passion for working with children' and who can 'further strengthen an already strong and hardworking team'.

The salary is based on a 6.5 hour day, Monday to Friday, and depending on experience, this could vary between £8.40-£10.50 per hour.
