Or perhaps you're a graduate or school leaver with extensive voluntary experience supporting special needs and have career progression interest in education?

At Teaching Personnel we support those with a passion to support children with special needs by helping them find long-term and full-time positions in Special education-based settings - including positions as SEN TAs, Nurture TAs and Learning Support Assistants.

The Special Needs TA responsibilities:

SEN TAs are required to provide 1:1 and or 2:1 support of children with complex sensory, medical and physical needs and some who display challenging behaviours. Assistance will also be provided to class teachers to create a structured, stimulating and safe environment where children are able to learn and play in the most conducive setting. Alongside members of SEN team, you will implement Education, Health and Care plans (ECHP) or behaviour plans for your key pupil(s) working with specialist resources to maximise learning potential and opportunities.

Special Needs TA specification:

The successful SEN TA will have a minimum of A*-C GCSE English and Maths with experience supporting complex communication, sensory or physical needs. They will have confidence supporting pupils with special educational needs on an EHCP or ILP. SEN training or knowledge of specific language/physio therapies will be highly beneficial. You will receive specialist training within this role but having some experience working with special needs is essential.

  • Location: Northolt, Hillingdon
  • Role: Special Needs teaching assistant
  • Duration: Long-term, full-time role for academic year starting late September 2018 with permanent contract offer opportunities
  • Pay: £60-65 a day (paid on a weekly basis)
  • Essential criteria: Must have a minimum A*-C GCSEs in Maths and English with experience supporting complex communication, sensory, medical and physical needs
  • Desirable criteria: Previous work in social care or within an SEN school or SEN unit/provision or training in either Makaton/PECS, PEG feeding, personal care or Moving and Handling.
