Job description

I am currently recruiting for a specialist SEN School located on the outskirts of Manchester who require SEN Teaching Assistants on a long term supply basis. This school provides day placements for students with complex communication and social difficulties typically associated with Asperger's syndrome and Autism. Many will have additional sensory issues and high levels of anxiety that affect their ability to cope in mainstream settings and create barriers to learning.

This school is currently looking for a number of specialist Teaching Assistants who are able to support young people with complex educational needs and are able to differentiate for young people with sensory needs. Ideally, the school are looking for up to 7 support staff to work across the school. As the school caters for young people with complex needs, experience or qualifications relating to moving and handling, personal care, physical intervention or any similar is highly desirable.

This is a highly successful school that are looking to expand their staffing team to accommodate for more pupils starting in September 2018.

These positions would ideally be starting from 5th September 2018 with the view to continuing on a long term supply basis. The school would like to meet and interview members of staff ideally within the first few days of term. The school ideally would like to see teaching assistants on a practical interview to allow you to see the day - to - day running's of the school.

The SEN teaching assistant would ideally;

  • Have experience working within a setting with individuals with complex needs
  • Have special school experience / experience as a care worker / support worker
  • Have a strong passion for working with young people with special educational needs
  • Have experience using communication aids, e.g. Makaton, Ipads, PECs
