SEN teaching assistant, Lewisham special needs school full time

An all age special school in the London borough of Lewisham is looking to recruit an outstanding practitioner to join their large support staff team from January 2019. Graded most recently as 'good' by Ofsted, with 'outstanding behaviour and safety of pupils', you will be joining a key stage 2 class comprised of just 9 students who have complex social, communication and interaction difficulties, including autism.

This school could be the next stepping stone in your career in education. Progression is a possibility here, dependent on your performance and ambition. You will start as a temporary member of staff through the agency, but will have the option to apply for and secure a permanent role at this school.

In order to apply for this teaching assistant role, you must meet the following criteria:

• Child DBS registered on the update service, or be willing to complete a new application asap
• Experience of working with children who have social, communication and interaction difficulties, especially autism
• A degree or level 3 qualification related to working with children or SEN
• Experience of working alongside speech and language therapists, occupational therapists or educational psychologists is highly desirable
• Knowledge of or inclination to learn how to use PECs, Makaton or BSL
• Right to work in the UK
• References from previous employment
• Full time availability from September 2018
• Live local to Lewisham and be able to travel here daily for work
