SEN Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel are recruiting for an SEN Teaching Assistant on behalf of our partner secondary school in East Manchester.

This full-time position, required to start as soon as possible, represents an exciting opportunity for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive SEN department and make a profound difference to the lives of pupils.

Highlights:

  • To work within the school's Alternative Provision to ensure targeted groups of students are comprehensively supported across all areas of school life.
  • The school are ideally seeking candidates who are qualified to Level 3 or who will be working to work towards achieving it.
  • Pay between £60-80 a day depending upon experience level.
  • Possibility of a fixed-term contract after the initial supply period (one term).

Specific duties:

  • Take responsibility for the delivery of Academic Achievement programme for individual and small groups under the direction of teaching staff.
  • Prepare suitable support programmes that are differentiated to meet the needs of the students in the SEN Base.
  • Help students resolve a range of issues which are creating barriers to learning for students in the SEN Base and developing effective relationships to help provide them with strategies to overcome those barriers.
  • Support and help implement action plans for students who need particular support and contribute to reviews and work to objectives in these plans.
  • Develop pro-active approaches to learning for students with complex learning needs.
  • Develop positive one-to-one relationships with students needing particular support which is aimed at achieving the goals defined in their individual plan.
  • Maintain regular contact with parents/carers of students receiving support and to encourage positive family involvement in the students' learning.

The school:

Our partner school currently caters for just under 900 pupils. At present, the numbers of pupils eligible for pupil premium and those who speak English as an Additional Language are slightly higher than the national average.

It is located on the outskirts of Manchester town centre offering excellent accessibility to East Manchester, Tameside and areas of Stockport via the M60 motorway. There are also direct public transport links (both buses & trains) to the school from Manchester city centre.
