SEN Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel Bristol is seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to work within an SEN School in Fishponds from September 2020.  The provision caters for both Primary and Secondary students with SEN and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and is split across two sites. The successful candidate will be required to join the school on a full time basis from September and be confident to work in both a Primary and Secondary setting.

The daily pay rate for this role is between GBP65 - GBP70 a day (dependant on experience)

Responsibilites of an SEN Teaching Assistant:

• Support the class teacher in the delivery of their lessons.
• Working on a 1-2-1 basis with pupils who have extreme challenging behaviour.
• Follow the school’s behaviour management policy.
• Engage with pupils both in the classroom and on out-of-school activities.

As this is a school that supports mostly SEN children with challenging behaviour it can be quite a chaotic environment to work in and it is therefore extremely important that the successful candidate is a calm and patient individual that will not be fazed by challenging behaviour.

We are seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant that has previous experience in a classroom setting and in particular experience supporting invidudals with challenging behaviour.  SEN Teaching Assistants with personal experience outside an education setting would also be considered. 

This school does require the successful candidate to have a behaviour support qualification such as MAPPA or TEAM TEACH.  If you do not currently have this, Teaching Personnel can provide the training neccessary to be TEAM TEACH qualified.
