Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking to get into a supportive career?
Teaching Personnel have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Learning Support Assistant at a SEN school in Totton, Southampton. They are the first school in Hampshire to receive an Autism-friendly award from the National Autistic Society.
This will be a full-time position with the opportunity to be a permanent position for the right person. The role will be working with children with social, emotional and communication needs and young people with autism at a secondary age.
You will have the opportunity to complete the following CPD before starting:
1. Safeguarding
2. Prevent Duty
3. Female Genital Mutilation
Following this training you will have the opportunity to also complete Team Teach (behaviour management) training.
You will need to be:
- Be willing to work towards or be Level 3 Teaching Assistant Award or equivalent.
- Have experience of working and supporting children with Autism and associated needs or have a good level of transferable skills from another sector.
- Able to work as part of a supportive and experienced team
- An excellent communicator
- Someone who can think outside of the box
- Have a resilient personality
Responsibilities of the role involve:
- Helping pupils catch up with their education, many pupils have missed alot of school in the past
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis where necessary
- Creating a positive environment for children and staff
- Managing challenging behaviours of pupils
- Working alongside other staff to achieve the best outcomes for pupils
Ideally you will have experience supporting children or adults with SEN or Mental Health Needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
