Special education needs teaching assistant – South Manchester

Teaching personnel is searching on behalf of an Ofsted rated ‘GOOD’ school in the Chorlton/Didsbury area for a SEN specialist to fill a full time position from September 2021.

The successful SEN TA will be focussed on assisting small groups of students who have been identified by the SENCO as requiring additional assistance. The students that require a more dedicated approach range from having additional needs with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), dyslexia or have a pending/diagnosis of Autism.

The SENCO has created a caring, nurturing environment for staff and students alike, full support will be given to the successful candidate, including having a full time SEN TA to assist with day to day classroom tasks on top of more specific student’s needs, helping them provide the best level of assistance for SEN students.

Candidates with experience working with SEN pupils in a school is preferable, although any work with disadvantaged children outside of the classroom setting i.e. care work is also advantageous  

You will be working closely with parents, medical staff and specialists like speech therapists and psychologists to enhance the level of care provided, so communication and organisation skills are essential.

Adaptability is key, part of the role is the ability to develop and modify the conventional curriculum to fit the individual needs of the pupils, using different types of equipment, varying approaches in behavioural management and classroom accessibility are all essential components of a successful SEN teacher.

  • Pay starting at GBP1200 per month
  • Supportive SENCO

Any successful candidate will be subject to DBS, Right to work and DFE checks, relevant documentation will be requested.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
