SEN Teaching Assistant, Bamber Bridge

A primary school located in the Bamber Bridge area of Preston are seeking a Teaching Assistant with recent experience of supporting a Key Stage 1 child with challenging behaviour. The role is to support a pupil with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) difficulties on a one-to-one basis from September 2020 until the end of the academic year.

The Role…

The successful candidate will be based in a Key Stage 1 class. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Building a positive relationship with the pupil based upon trust and mutual respect
• Recognising when behaviours are triggered and managing situations to stop them from escalating
• Keeping the pupil motivated and focused during learning time in order for them achieve the learning objective for the lesson
• Delivering sessions in order to make progress against the pupil’s IEP targets
• Working alongside the SENCo and external professionals to monitor and set new IEP targets

You will be appointed on a full-time basis (8:30 – 3:30, Mon – Fri) on a temporary contract from September 2020 until the end of the academic year, with a possibility of gaining a permanent contract following a successful period of probation.

The Successful Candidate…

To be successful in your application for this role, you must have:

• Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or above
• Recent experience working alongside pupils in Key Stage 1 with challenging behaviour on a 1:1 basis
