SEN Teaching Assistant

Job description

Our client Secondary school in the borough of Salford have an opening within their SEN faculty for a teaching assistant with experience supporting young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).

This position is ideal for an individual who has previously worked within an SEN specific provision, or has a close family member with the condition.

  • Full time position, supporting students with ASC
  • Working within the SEN department under the direction of the SENCO
  • Supporting pupils with ASC in class
  • Tracking progress and monitoring behaviour
  • £55 - £65 per day depending upon previous experience

"We are seeking to appoint a specialist teaching assistant to work alongside pupils with ASC from September. It is essential that the successful teaching assistant has previous experience working with young people who have mild to moderate autism. The appointed teaching assistant will be fully supported by our SENCO during this position." Head Teacher

The incoming SEN Teaching Assistant will be expected to work within the on site ASC provision under the direction of the SENCO and the Inclusion Manager. A timetable of activities will be provided each morning and this will be reviewed each afternoon. There will also be the opportunity to cover whole class sessions with students who require additional support.

Located in central Salford, our client Secondary school can be accessed via the M602 motorway and the A580 (East Lancashire Road). For non-drivers, there are a number of public transportation links that lead directly to the school from neighbouring areas Worsley, Bolton and central Manchester.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
