Job description

A specialist school in Torquay is requiring a teaching assistant who has relevant experience working with children with additional or behavioural needs whether that be in your personal life or professional. You will need to have a can do attitude and be able to adapt to different situations on a day to day basis.


Applicants must have:

  • GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and Maths.
  • Experience of the recent UK curriculum in a similar role although this is not essential.
  • A good understanding of high quality learning.
  • A resilient attitude to day to day work.
  • The ability to help dis-engaged children to become re-engaged with their education.
  • The ability to encourage positive behaviour strategies with children.
  • Confident in developing phonics and early reading, writing and Maths skills.
